Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Laura graduated from Duke University in 2003 with a major in Political Science. She received her J.D. in 2006 from William and Mary School of Law, where she served as a staff editor for the William and Mary Law Review.
Laura was admitted to the Virginia Bar in October 2006 and practiced construction and government contract law in McLean, Virginia before moving to Delaware. Once in Delaware, Laura served as a law clerk to the Honorable James T. Vaughn, Jr. in the Superior Court of Kent County, practiced insurance litigation in Wilmington, and practiced at two full-service law firms in Dover. Laura also owned her own practice for two years, serving estate planning and business clients throughout Delaware. Her firm, Willis Law, LLC, was recognized as the #1 law firm by the readers of the Smyrna-Clayton Sun Times in 2020 as part of Gannett Media’s “First State Favorites” contest.
Laura is a member of the Delaware State Bar Association, serving on the Commercial Law and Trusts and Estates sections, and the Kent County Bar Association. In 2023, Laura was appointed to the Delaware Board of Bar Examiners and the Delaware Open Space Council.
Active in the community, Laura is involved with the Smyrna Holly’s Club, the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, the Duke University Alumni program, Asbury United Methodist Church, and professional development groups in Kent and Sussex Counties. Laura and her husband, Lincoln, live in Clayton with their two soccer-obsessed sons. When not practicing law, Laura enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering at her children’s school, planning parties, and following politics.
In her Estate Planning and Business Law practices, Laura’s goals are to provide families with peace of mind for the future and set business owners up for success.
